I’d used the same headshot forever. And a few months ago instead of automatically attaching the headshot, I actually looked at it and realized, ‘that Davenia’ was not the ‘Davenia today.’ A serious update was needed. So I scheduled a photo shoot with my cousin and we had a ball at the Laura Park in Atlanta. She made me feel like a model. That is until I received the proofs. I so desperately wanted her to photoshop away the extra jiggle on my arms, turn the two pack into six, slim down my face, and fluff up my curls. But her philosophy is to capture and portray you, You-niquely. She reiterated how beautiful I was and shared that what the lens had captured was the confident way in which I stood, the playful twinkle in my eye, the compassion in my smile. She helped me look beyond the exterior trappings that comprise beauty from the world’s standard and to appreciate and love me for me; the essence of Naked and Unashamed – living free of guilt, pain, fear, sorrow, shame, and the lies of the enemy. Loving and embracing the skin you’re in. Seeing yourself as God sees you.
Bible Verses: “God, You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous-how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand!” Psalm 139:13-18
Questions: If you could change one thing about you, what would it be and why? If that one thing were changed, how might your life be different? Could your life be different with “that one thing” as it is? Why or Why not? Pray that God transforms you into the you He created you to be.
Shout Out: Thanks so much Sanese! Please check her out. She’s an amazing, talented, God-lead young woman! And I’m proud to call her my cousin! Check her out and book her here www.pippenphoto.com.
