Slip and Slide

As a child, I loved Slip and Slide. That sheet of plastic, connected to a hose making it slippery, enabling me to slide away!

How easy it is to slide once you slip. Walking on the edge is a set-up for sliding into poor thinking patterns, bad habits, and sin. Eating one donut leads to twelve. Skipping exercise today results in skipping tomorrow. Once on the slippery slope, it doesn’t take much to slide your way downward.

The Bible warns us to be vigilant (I Peter 5:8) and on guard (I Corinthians 16:13) because Satan’s determined to destroy us. Deliver us from evil, delves into Satan’s ploys– doubt, distraction, distortion, and discouragement. You’ll be reacquainted with Shula, Alex, and Jillian while meeting new friends - Toni, Kaitlyn Rose and Macy. You’ll also encounter Live (evil spelled backwards) who’s determined to seek revenge.

As I write, I’m praying because Satan is throwing every fiery dart my way (Ephesians 6:16) trying to prevent God’s message going forth. I pray, “Father, help me stand firmly established and steadfast (Colossians 1:23), girded in the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:11) so that I can stand and not slip; stand and not slide.”

Bible Verse: Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. I Corinthians 16:13

Questions: What behaviors/practices are you dabbling in, that have you on the edge where you could easily slide into sin? What strategies could help you stand rooted, grounded, and more convicted?
